In a world threatened by climate change and pervasive environmental degradation, Bhubaneshwar Power Pvt. Limited (BPPL) is undertaking several measures to mitigate environmental risks. In order to bring efficiency in waste management, water and energy conservation, stack and fugitive emission, along with reduction in noise pollution, the Company has adopted state of the art technology in its Plant operation.

Air Pollution Control

Providing/installing of Twin-flue stack with height of 130 meter as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) guidelines for better dispersion of emissions and keep the concentrations within SPCB/CPCB specified standards

  • Providing/installing of Twin-flue stack with height of 130 meter as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) guidelines for better dispersion of emissions and keep the concentrations within SPCB/CPCB specified standards.
  • Providing 2 nos. of high efficient Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs) of 12 fields in each for the control of dust emissions in flue gas.
  • Installation of Dust Extraction system along with Bag Filters at Coal Handling Plant (CHP) & Ash Silos to arrest the fugitive emissions.
  • Roof sheeting and side cladding in conveyor galleries to control fugitive dust.
  • Installation of Dust Suppression System at identified areas in CHP.
  • Installation of high efficient mist canon (2 nos.) at coal stack yard and water sprinklers along the Haul road as an effective dust suppression measure.
  • Mobile water tanker for water sprinkling along the internal and connecting roads.
  • Installation of mechanized wheel washing system (2 nos )along the haul road for wheel washing of Coal and Ash vehicles to control probable dust emission due to heavy vehicle movement.

 

Air Pollution monitoring

Installed 4 CAAQMS (continuous online ambient air quality monitoring stations)around the plant to monitor air quality, real time data is linked to the SPCB/ CPCB Servers.

Installed 2 CEMS (continuous emission monitoring stations) at the Stack, real time data is linked to the SPCB/ CPCB Servers.


  • Regular monitoring of ambient air quality, noise and water etc.

Installed a high efficient IP Surveillance Camera to visualize Stack/ fugitive emission and real time video is linked with OSPCB server.

Installation of Digital display Board at main gate for display of Environmental monitoring parameters.
