WATER MANAGEMENT

Water pollution is controlled by adopting a range of stringent regulatory measures and monitoring processes.

Some of the measures, which have been implemented for effective control of water pollution are:

  • The wastewater generated from Boiler Blowdown, Cooling tower blowdown, DM Plant regeneration is treated in Guard pond followed by neutralization tank and reused for road sprinkling, coal yard sprinkling, ash conditioning & greenbelt development.
  • Sewage treatment plant (STP) has been installed and the treated water is reused for horticulture and greenbelt development.
  • Specific water consumption is maintained <3.5 m3 per MWH. Waste water is treated and reused for road sprinkling, coal yard sprinkling, ash conditioning & Greenbelt development; the reuse approach for conserving water, making our plant zero discharge unit.
  • Re-using treated wastewater generated from Coal run-off system in ash conditioning.
  • Installed Effluent Quality monitoring station (EQMS) at the guard pond for continuous monitoring of wastewater quality for the parameters like pH, TSS, BOD & COD; real time online data is being transmitted to OSPCB Server.
Rainwater Harvesting

Rainwater harvesting structure has been constructed for ground water recharge in consultation with the water resource department.
